Defender likes Tweet he should sign with Chelsea, Blues handed update on Mbappe future, Giroud undroppable, New Chelsea signing is world class
Mendy world class, Mbappe update given, Gimenez likes Tweet and Giroud claim made in icchelseanews roundup…
Jose Gimenez appears to have ‘liked’ a post calling for his move to Chelsea.
Frank Lampard has handed some serious money to spend in the summer window and delved into that cash fund to acquire players that have made this side contenders for that Premier League title.
The attack has been improved and so has the defence, but there is a worry that Thiago Silva will not be able to keep up his level of performances over the course of the season into next season, while Kurt Zouma and Antonio Rudiger are still not 100 per cent convincing.
That means that Lampard will be looking to add a new defender to the squad in the coming weeks, with Gimenez a player that has now appeared on the shopping list of the coach.
Gimenez is fast becoming one of the most solid defenders in the game right now and is attracting all sorts of interest from the likes of Manchester City, Real Madrid and PSG for his very impressive performances in that Madrid shirt.
He has a very high price tag that we would have to meet and pay, roughly around the £70 million mark, and would need some convincing that a move to the Premier League would be the best option for him.
But he has got the transfer headlines going crazy after the defender reportedly likes a Tweet suggesting that he should complete that move to Stamford Bridge
Kylian Mbappe’s father has given an update on the Paris Saint-Germain star’s future, with Chelsea just one club linked.
Since bursting onto the scene just a few seasons ago, Mbappe is already considered to be one of the very best players in the World and has countless trophies with PSG, as well as being a World Cup winner with France.
The 21-year-old has helped the French champions win eight major trophies and reach their first Champions League final, scoring 100 goals in 137 appearances across all competitions.
His performances is attracting interest from the games biggest clubs, but PSG sporting director Leonardo has confirmed that the club have already opened talks with the talismanic forward over a possible extension.
“We talk, we talk,” Leonardo told Canal Plus. “We want to talk, I think he too wants to discuss. It’s normal. The time comes to have a clearer idea about his future.
“We are talking quietly, things are progressing well, we have taken steps forward compared to 10-15 days ago. We will continue.”
Mbappe’s father has now also offered a positive update on the contract negotiations, insisting his son is very much open to committing to fresh terms in Paris.
Quizzed on the possibility of transfer rumours becoming a distraction for the PSG striker, Mbappe Sr told Telefoot: “It cannot disturb him because he plays in a great team, and is surrounded by great players. It allows him to get closer to his dreams and his ambitions.”

Frank Lampard was desperate to spend some money in the transfer window and add a new stopper to the squad having fallen out of love with Kepa, and he eventually opted to make a move for Mendy.
Mendy to Stamford Bridge shocked many people in the media who believed that he would struggle to adapt to the quality of the Premier League, but the big man has been very impressive and is already one of the stars of the season for the club.
Now, German icon Neuer has opened up and praised the talented stopper and suggested that he is now one of the world class stoppers in the game, He told L’Equipe: “There are a lot of world-class goalkeepers right now. For example, Edouard Mendy, who moved from Rennes to Chelsea.
“He is a player that we only saw in Ligue 1, who joined a big club and has immediately been successful.
“It’s great to see that. Overall, I’m happy to see so many good goalkeepers because we’re a brotherhood.”
Mendy recently opened up and revealed just why he has settled so quickly at the club, He told the club’s website: “Everyone has done everything to help me integrate as smoothly as possible, the players, the staff, they have all helped me.
“I respond to that by devoting myself to being the best goalkeeper I can be on the pitch, by doing what I can every day in training and in matches.
“I will continue like that to keep trying to help the team.
“I have joined a very good club. I feel good in this team. I have got to know them and gained an affinity with them which helps during games.
“Of course with Kurt and Thiago they speak French which is good for me, but I can communicate well with the other players too and I am really enjoying it.”
Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud is becoming “undroppable”, according to Danny Murphy
Despite the fact that Giroud was a major player for the club last season in their quest to get back into those top four spots, there has been constant speculation about his long-term future at the club as he simply has not been a regular this season.
However, Giroud scored yet again making if five goals in the space of a week, scoring four against Sevilla and the equaliser in yesterday’s 3-1 win against Leeds, and is fast becoming a big part of the side for Frank Lampard.
And Murphy has claimed that the Frenchman is fact becoming undroppable, Murphy said on the SUN “Frank was right to mention Leeds’ qualities but Giroud deserves all the credit in the world.
“He’s not underrated by me or people that know football – if you play the game at the top level you know how important a striker like he is to the team. He’s a focal point.
“He nearly scored early on with the first header, I don’t know how Timo Werner kept that out.
“He looked so up for it, he’s full of confidence after midweek and all good strikers gamble on space. It was a superb finish.
“Game awareness as well, knowing where people are running, and his strength and presence. Everything about his performance says keep me in the team.
“Leeds were unhappy about the second but it was just his physical presence that knocked over Liam Cooper. He’s rightly in the team, he’s earned his way.
“People were thinking about him leaving or talk of him going in January as he wants to play in the Euros but he’s undroppable at the moment.”
