Chelsea told if Frenchman will be signing in summer, Blues winning race to sign Brazilian, midfielder officially tells Chelsea his summer plans
Chelsea get Pogba update, Blues winning race for Raphinha and De Jong releases statement in Chelsea roundup..
Steve McManaman expects Paul Pogba to leave Manchester United this summer, but claims that he wont be heading for Chelsea
Pogba has scored 29 goals and made 37 assists in 150 Premier League appearances but has often been accused of lacking the consistency of the world’s best players.
That has led to constant rumours in the media that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season, especially now that he is out of contract at the club and not looking to sign a new deal.
That has led to some shock reports in the media that we are very much open to the idea of handing him a massive £400,000-a-week contract to take him to the Bridge and partner him next to Ngolo Kante
But Former England winger McManaman told HorseRacing.net : ‘If Paul Pogba was to make a move to one of Manchester United’s Premier League rivals, I wouldn’t be shocked…. I would be incredibly shocked!
‘If it was Manchester City, Chelsea, or Liverpool I would be amazed, far more than shocked. Why would you?
‘Is Paul Pogba going to improve Manchester City’s team? No. He wouldn’t improve Liverpool’s either. Probably not Chelsea’s, the way they play.
‘Paul Pogba’s form for Manchester United over the past five years hasn’t been good enough to reflect that he can go and play for Manchester City or Liverpool.
‘His reputation is excellent, of course it is. But his reputation is in the France shirt and Juventus shirt. It’s not in the Manchester United shirt. His style of play is too slow for Man City or Liverpool.’
Would he even be welcome here guys? He hasnt really performed in the Premier League like he should have right?
Chelsea’s pursuit of Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong has been handed a blow after he released a statement about his future.
The Dutch international was poised to be the focus of a heated transfer battle this summer with the suggestion that Barca may be forced to sell as they continue to get their finances in order.
And that has led to many reports in the media over the past few weeks that he could be coming to the Premier League at the end of the season, with the club reportedly interested in trying to secure a transfer deal.
Thomas Tuchel will be looking to add some more quality to the squad at the end of the season, and with the financial situation at Barcelona, would have been very interested in trying to sign the world class Dutchman
However, amid the speculation, De Jong has opened up and confirmed that he is very happy at Barcelona and has no intention of leaving the Camp Nou anytime soon, De Jong told The Guardian: “I’m very happy I’m at Barcelona: from a young age I’ve wanted to be here, so in that way it has been a dream come true.
“But I would have liked to win more trophies than we did in my first two years. I expected more in that sense, let’s put it that way.
“But other than that, I’m very happy here and hopefully [will be here] for many more years”
Look, De Jong is world class and it is easy to see just why he wants to stay. But at the end of the day, if we offer the right amount of money to Barcelona, they will be open to selling.
Chelsea are leading Barcelona in the race to lure Brazilian winger Raphinha away from Leeds in the summer window
The Brazil international is likely to be one of the most in-demand players in world football this coming summer – when he will only have two years left on his contract – and is wanted by a host of clubs.
Boss Thomas Tuchel is a massive fan of the player and there was even some talk in the media that we were eyeing up a deal during the January window, but eventually opted against making a move
However, there has been some reports in the media that the club were ready to battle Barcelona in the summer to try and win the race to complete a deal for Raphinha.
And claims on FootballTransfers has suggested that the Blues are now leading the race to win the services of the gifted Brazilian at the end of the season.
The South American, who has also been linked with Liverpool, is facing some big decisions on his future, with current employers also looking for him to sign a new contract.
Raphinha recently insisted he is not distracted by the enormous speculation surrounding his future or the question marks over his contract situation at Leeds.
We did not spend in the January window and that was a shock, but come the summer, it could be special players like Raphinha that make a move to the Bridge.
The club dont really need him in the squad, but with Hakim Ziyech getting on a bit, he could be an ideal candidate to replace the impressive Blues winger
