Dutchman has made decision about joining Chelsea in the summer in £60 million deal

Chelsea target Frenkie de Jong has committed his long-term future to Barcelona, reports have claimed

After seeing the side fall further away from winning that Premier League title after an inconsistent season, Thomas Tuchel may now push to get some deals done, and the latest name to be linked with a move is De Jong

The Dutch international was poised to be the focus of a heated transfer battle this summer with the suggestion that Barca may be forced to sell as they continue to get their finances in order.

Youth graduates Pedri and Gavi have impressed this season with another youngster, Nico, also rated highly by the club, so the Dutchman’s minutes on the pitch has not been what he had hoped for

The speculation had the club on red alert as well as Man United and Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

However, the midfield playmaker – who can also operate in defence – has quashed the rumours by insisting that he intends to stay at the Nou Camp for ‘many more years.’

De Jong celebrated his commitment to the Spanish club by scoring in Sunday’s 4-1 La Liga win at Valencia.

We are very shocked to see that we are linked with a midfielder, as all of their issues seem to be at the back and up top, in front of goal. De Jong is a very special player that has become a key part of the Barca squad.

Yes he has not impressed like many had hoped for, but at the end of the day, neither has many of those Barcelona players.

So it is sad to see that he will not be leaving, he would have been a world class signing
