Ian Wright has suggested that CHELSEA target David Raya could demand a move to a ‘bigger club’ in the summer.

The Blues were the busiest sides in the January window, having splashed the cash to sign David Datro Fofana, Andrey Santos, Benoit Badiashile, Joao Felix and Mykhaylo Mudryk as Graham Potter looked to strengthen his squad for the second phase of the season.

But the summer transfer window will give the Blues an opportunity to add a few more players to the side – and Raya is a man that the club reportedly want.

The 27-year-old Spain international has made a total of 143 appearances since he arrived at Brentford in 2019 from Blackburn and helped Thomas Frank’s side clinch promotion to the top-flight after winning the 2021 Championship play-offs.

Kepa has been decent since coming back into the side this season – but still looks like a man that can make a mistake or two – while Edouard Mendy has been out for some time and is considering his future at the club.

Now – amid all the speculation surrounding the future of the stopper – Wright has suggested that he could look for a move away from the club at the end of the season.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, Wright branded Raya as a ‘very, very good goalkeeper’ who has a move to a ‘bigger club’ on the horizon. The former Arsenal striker said: “Well, Raya’s already turned down a contract and he has two appearances for the national team in Spain.

“He is somebody that wants to win trophies. He’s a very, very good goalkeeper. You can see that he probably needs to make, in his own mind, go to that next level of club to elevate himself more.

“He obviously wants to see him being Spain’s number one. A bigger club might happen for him. But he is a very, very good goalkeeper.”
