The Oxford United board have revealed why the decision was made to sign jamie Cumming from CHELSEA on a permanent deal this transfer window.

The 24-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan with U’s in League One, helping them to promotion to the Championship, and has now completed a permanent transfer to remain at the Kassam Stadium

Des Buckingham, Head Coach, said: “Jamie showed real improvement over his loan spell last season, and he was a very important figure in our successful play-off campaign.

“He produced some big moments for us, particularly in the semi-final over Peterborough United, and we are excited to have him back at the club.

“Jamie already has great experience for his age with almost 200 senior appearances, and we have faith in him that he can continue to develop and be an important player over this time.”

Ed Waldron, Head of Recruitment, said: “Jamie demonstrated his potential and progression during his loan spell, where he developed into a goalkeeper comfortable performing in some really high-pressured situations.

“We are delighted to have Jamie join permanently as we believe he can be a valuable contributor again, and one that will continue to improve.

“Jamie is a key addition to the group, and we will continue in our efforts to boost the goalkeeping department to ensure we are in the strongest position possible ahead of the new season.”
