Barcelona superstar Coutinho opens up on possible summer move to join Chelsea
Barcelona star Philippe Coutinho has told Chelsea that he has no intention of making a return back to the Premier League at the end of the season.
Coutinho is regarded as one of the finest creators in Europe and was supposed to be the long-term successor to Andreas Iniesta at the Camp Nou, but he has failed to make the kind of impact this season that made him a Liverpool superstar in the Premier league and there has been talk that he could be heading back to the Premier League.
We have been linked with a mega money move for the Brazilian over the past few weeks, especially since Eden Hazard has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and Willian has been linked with a big money move to Barcelona, meaning we may need an adequate replacement for one of the stars.
And that has led to some reports even suggesting that Barcelona are willing to cash in if we meet the £65 million valuation, a significant drop in the price of the Brazilian star.
However, Coutinho has given those stories short shrift, telling the Sunday Mirror: “My head is exclusively in Barcelona. Returning to England now does not fit into my plans.
“This is my second season here. I have won titles but I am always an ambitious and demanding player. So, I want more and more.”
Here is what we think.
Coutinho is a top class midfielder and would be a real asset to the club if we managed to secure a transfer deal, but it is no surprise to see that he wants to stay put at the Spanish giants considering he fought so hard to get that move from Liverpool.
But money talks and if we offer the right amount of money we could still get him, even though we probably wont.
