Impressive defender confirms Chelsea is where he wants to be in summer

Levi Colwill has made it clear he wants to be part of the first-team squad at Chelsea next season – amid summer speculation

The 19-year-old has enjoyed an excellent campaign on loan with Huddersfield, making 30 appearances in the Championship – with his performances earning some high prise from big clubs

Colwill has been linked with clubs such as Arsenal and Leicester should Chelsea decide to cash in on another young star in the coming window – especially as they may need funds to sign their own transfer targets.

However – with the fact that the club may be struggling for defenders – The academy graduate has admitted that he is keen to try and make the grade at his parent club, but he has also underlined the need to think about his career should he not get the game time he needs

‘For me, playing for Chelsea will always be the main aim right now because it’s my club,’ he explained.

‘But if that doesn’t happen, well then I have to find other ways to progress and become the player I want to be.’

‘There’s too much respect for me to close the door,’ said Colwill of a potential return to the Terriers.

‘We need to get promotion first, which is the only thing I’m thinking of right now.

‘I’m not planning for next year, all I can focus on right now is Wembley on Sunday and then the internationals after that.

‘After when I’ve finished all of that, well that’s when I’ll start thinking about that.’
