Frank Lampard opens up and claims there are no issues with Chelsea deals for Werner and Ziyech
Frank Lampard insists none of his players should have any issue with the signings of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.
Lampard is no fool and knows that he needed to spend some serious money before the opening of the transfer window to add a new winger and a new striker to a side that is lacking in top-class quality in some areas of the pitch.
We have already spent £80 million on securing a transfer deal for both players, and are still expected to delve into that transfer kitty in order to compete for the Premier League title and not just Champions League spots.
And Lampard was quizzed about the prospect of some of his players being unnerved by the decision to bring in Werner and Ziyech – but he has admitted that none of his players should have any issues with the new arrivals.
‘Not really a question just for me and it is a hypothetical one for me to answer before the event, hence why I don’t jump forward into that,’ he was quoted on the Metro
‘We have brought a couple of players into the club already, which shows positivity about where we want to go.
‘We know the club not being able to do business in the last two windows has meant we haven’t been able to bring in, move players out and I think that is as an important thing than bringing players in at times, to keep freshening up the squad and keeping the competitive nature of it.
‘I know where I want to go with the squad, but that has to be a fluid conversation with the club. ‘Of course, economics will come into it, so we will cross that bridge when it comes.’
