Bayer Leverkusen sensation Florian Wirtz has been urged to snub a potential move to sign with Chelsea
Wirtz, 18, has taken the Bundesliga by storm and it was no surprise to see the Bayer Leverkusen youngster linked with an early exit from Germany last summer.
But he rightly decided to extend his contract for two more years on top of the original 2024 contract, due to taking his father’s advice, and that meant the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool had to just keep a close eye on his development
Wirtz’s current deal with the Bundesliga club will run down in 2026, but Thon claims the Germany international could change clubs after this season, which has prompted the club to reignite their interest in the player
But Eintracht Frankfurt director Karl-Heinz Korbel has urged him to pick a move to Liverpool rather than anyone else, should he leave Leverkusen.
“A player like Wirtz needs an environment in which he feels comfortable in order to develop,” Körbel said.
“If he leaves in 2023 or 2024, he can choose the club: Barcelona, Madrid, Bayern, Liverpool. I think he would do well with Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. As the successor to Sadio Mané.”

Wirtz is making all the right noises in the game and it is very easy to see just why all the big clubs are interested in a move. It will be interesting to see just where he ends up should he leave Bayer at the end of the season
We have a habit of buying talent and not playing them while Liverpool will give him more of a chance, but like many deals, it will come down to money.
The best thing for him right now is to stay in the Bundesliga, but it is his choice and we can only speculate on where he will go.
If he develops, then we can make a move, but for now, he doesnt need to go anywhere
