Chelsea working on signing ‘ball-playing, modern centre-back’

CHELSEA FC have set their sights on signing Lille youngster Leny Yoro as they look to bring in a long-term successor to Thiago Silva, according to reports.
There is still a lot of speculation surrounding the players that Mauricio Pochettino will look to sign during the summer window, especially now that Thiago Silva is expected to leave the club at the end of the season.
That has led to some rumours in the media which have claimed that the club tried to get a transfer deal done for numerous defenders in the last few days of the last January window, but they couldnt get any deals done.
The 18-year-old has enjoyed a brilliant, breakout campaign for the French side, playing in all but one of Lille’s league games as they have moved up to fourth in the table – and they are only four points off second.
Yoro is a precocious, ball-playing, modern centre-back – and is seen by the board as the idea player to come in and help fill the void that Thiago Silva will leave when he officially departs the club.
It is no secret that the Brazilian icon has been a top star for many years – but he is right at the very end of his playing days and is keen to make a move back to his homeland for the final few seasons of his career.

Thiago Silva is a leader off and on the pitch – he really is a man that the club will miss – but a world class player needs to be signed rather than a young talent like Yoro.
