Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has been urged to sign West Ham star Marko Arnautovic when the transfer window opens up in January.
It is no secret to the media that Sarri is looking to acquire a striker in the January transfer window in hope that we can push on and mount a serious challenge for the Premier League title, especially since Manchester City are not looking as dominant as they have in the past.
Sarri si reportedly now impressed by the efforts of both Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud, with the £67 million Spaniard failing to reach the levels that is required of him with the former Arsenal forward has so far failed to score this season, despite his brilliant hold-up play that creates space for Eden Hazard, Pedro and Ross Barkley all to run into.
And many pundits have claimed we are a goalscoring striker away from being serious contenders for the title this term, something which former Liverpool star Steve Nicol believes can be solved with the signing of Arnautovic.
Nicol said: “It would make absolute sense for Chelsea. It would make absolutely no sense for West Ham. If they’re to stay in the Premier League, because they look as though they’re going to be in a dogfight for most of the year, then this guy has to stay.
“If they want to stay in the Premier League, West Ham, he has to stay. But, if you’re Chelsea, you have to go and get him. I think he would fit in fantastic.
“His attitude, he’s got the kind of attitude that’s infectious.
“People say he’s moody, but I’ll tell you what, I’ll have a moody guy that scores goals and upsets the opposition any day over Giroud or a Morata, who I wouldn’t be that bothered about playing against. This is not going to happen, but it would make sense for Chelsea.”
Could Arnautovic be the answer to out problems here at Stamford Bridge?
We firmly believe that Arnautovic is a top striker and has developed so much of his game over the last 2-3 seasons, and while he is not the type of target man that Sarri prefers to use in his squads, the Hammers star would give us something different up top and could bring 15-20 goals a season.
However, Sarri needs a striker that can bring 20-30 goals a season and that is why we believe Arnautovic would not solve out striker issues, he would improve on what we have, but is not good enough to lead our attack.
