Chelsea are set to open talks with RB Leipzig, but will have to wait until the summer to land Dayot Upamecano, According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano,

The Frenchman is regarded as one of the best young defenders in the world and has attracted interest from the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool over the past 12 months as he continues to impress on the highest stage of the game.

However, we have also reportedly entered the chase to try and get the young man all signed up in the coming transfer windows as the club seek to add another defender to that back-line that will eventually replace the ageing Thiago SIlva.

RB Leipzig have recently admitted that the right amount of money would get a transfer deal done, but the latest reports suggest that the Bundesliga side are not open to selling one of their prized assets in the January Transfer window, despite the fact he has a release clause in his contract

And according to Italian Romano, we will have to wait until the end of the season to try and get their man: he Tweeted: “RB Leipzig are not open to sell Dayot Upamecano in January. He’s expected to leave the club next summer – many clubs interested and set to open talks with his agent. The release clause value is €42m. ⛔️ #transfers #Leipzig

It is a shame that we will have to wait for the man as he would be a real bargain to sign this month for £37 million.
