Thomas Tuchel has indicated that he is happy to keep Trevoh Chalobah at Chelsea following the 22-year-old’s impressive Premier League debut this weekend.

It is no secret that we now have one of the very best squads in the Premier League and that has meant that a number of talented youngsters have been let go this summer, or be allowed to leave on loan.

And there was a massive feeling from many people in the media that Chalobah was going to be the next talent to leave the club this transfer window, with a number of clubs reportedly interested in a potential deal.

However, after seeing the youngster impress during his Premier League debut at the weekend, Tuchel has indicated that he would be happy to ignore all the transfer speculation surrounding the young man and keep him in the squad.

He was quoted on the Football.London website: ‘We have some of the best players in the world in our squad and still there are places for guys from the academy.

‘In the end he plays alongside Reece James and Mason Mount, this is how it has to be. I love it, the spectators love it. This is how it should be that we have a good mix and they still have a place to fight their way through.

‘This is what Chelsea academy stands for, for top quality. And we will never stop pushing.’

Fans have been very disappointed over the past few months as a number of talented players have departed the club in search of game time, so the news that Chalobah may get his chance is great news

Nobody has ever doubted his quality, he has just not been given the chance to prove himself in that shirt, but this season could be the breakthrough he has been hoping for.
