Reporter Iomie Stanley has told the likes of CHELSEA that Sporting Lisbon star Viktor Gyokeres has the ability to cope with the pressures of playing in the Premier League and believes that it is the next step for the big striker

He was a player that the club were very heavily linked with signing during the summer window, but his massive asking price was a real problem for the club, and in the end, the decision was not made to make a move for the striker.

Gyokeres is one of a number of Sporting CP players who could leave the Portuguese club in the wake of Ruben Amorim’s departure, with the club likely to chase the former Coventry striker once again.

And amid all the speculation and rumours, Stanley claims that Gyokeres is ready for the Premier League, he said: ‘One of Gyökeres’ standout qualities is his ability to consistently find the back of the net. After making the switch to Sporting Lisbon, he has seamlessly translated his form to a higher level, regularly scoring in the Primeira Liga and in European competitions.

‘In contrast, Nicolas Jackson has struggled to consistently convert chances. While his work rate and movement are commendable, his finishing leaves much to be desired. Chelsea’s struggles in tight matches often highlight the need for a forward with the clinical edge that Gyökeres provides.

‘Gyökeres is a physically dominant striker who excels in duels, making him well-suited to the demands of the Premier League. Standing at 6’2″, he combines strength with agility, allowing him to hold off defenders, win aerial challenges, and bully opposition backlines.

‘Unlike Jackson, who relies heavily on his pace, Gyökeres brings a more rounded physical presence. His ability to shield the ball and bring teammates into play makes him a focal point for attacking moves. Additionally, his high work rate and pressing ability align well with the demands of managers like Enzo Maresca, who value forwards capable of contributing defensively.

‘One of the key differences between Gyökeres and Jackson is their composure in front of goal. While Jackson has been criticized for snatching at chances, Gyökeres exhibits calmness and precision.’
