Pochettino told to bring impressive 12-goal hitman to Chelsea
Rio Ferdinand has backed CHELSEA to re-sign Dominic Solanke six-and-a-half years after he first left the club.
The club spent some serious money on improving that attack in the last transfer window and brought in Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku in hope they could bang in the goals on a weekly basis.
However – Jackson has really struggled to score the amount of goals that fans would have liked to see, while Nkunku has spent much of his time on the sidelines with injury.
That has led to all sorts of speculation in the media that we will once again delve into that transfer kitty and try to sign a striker for the club over the next few weeks, and they have been linked with some big names.
But Ferdinand has opened up and encouraged the club to make a move for former player Dominic Solanke, who is having the best season of his career so far.
Solanke started his professional career at Stamford Bridge after spending a decade in the academy at Stamford Bridge. He was a prolific goalscorer at youth level but was rarely given the chance for the first team.
After an unsuccessful spell at Liverpool, he has found a home at Bournemouth and is finally proving he can score goals in the Premier League. He is enjoying his best campaign in front of goal in the top flight, with 12 strikes in 18 appearances.
The Manchester United legend said on BT Sport: “A centre-forward would be great. Solanke was a child superstar here, broke all the records in the academy at CHELSEA.
“He knows his way around this place, it would be like a homecoming for him. He’s one name that jumps off the page at the moment.”
