Here is the latest Chelsea news and transfer gossip that we think you guys may have missed today –

CHELSEA have been backed to sign Ivan Toney this summer by former Manchester United striker, Teddy Sheringham.

The club spent some serious money in the Summer transfer window and acquired players that have really made an impact on the side – and they will be looking to improve over the summer window

We dont really have a striker that has the ability to score 20, 30 or even 40 goals a season and there is alot of speculation that the Blues are keen to add another striker to the side in the summer window.

And that has led to some reports in the media that the club will be interested in a £50 million move to try and sign Ivan Toney from Brentford – who is regarded as one of the best strikers in the Premier League.

Now – amid all the speculation and rumours – Sheringham has backed the Blues to secure a transfer deal for the big powerhouse – Offering his take on why Toney would be a smart signing for Chelsea, Sheringham told Genting Casino: “I think Ivan Toney would be a fantastic signing for CHELSEA.

‘He is a fantastic player who would enhance the current side.

“I don’t know what’s happened to his form, but I think a player of his stature can give a lot to a football team, he is a leader who knows his position and is coming into the prime of his career. I think he would be a great asset.”

Toney came back from that ban and failed to get back to his very best football – and that is why he is probably down the shopping list for the club – but that doesnt hide the fact he is still a top striker.

I would love it if he got signed!

CHELSEA star Raheem Sterling is on the verge of joining Fenerbahce, it has been claimed.

Sterling firmly established himself as one of the best wingers in the Premier League with Manchester City – where he banged in plenty of goals and won countles trophies.

But after he opted to leave the Premier League Champions – the club made sure that they were the club that got a transfer deal done for the attacker – and many fans were excited about his arrival.

However – he has not been that impressive so far during his stay at Stamford Bridge – and there has been some reports that he is one player that could be sold in a summer clear-out.

To balance the profit and sustainability standards of the Premier League, the club will have to offload some of their players which means Sterling is a player that the club are reportedly ready to cash in on.

And according to Michael Rincon,  Sterling is very close to becoming a Fenerbahce player?!

The report says that a few details are needed to be finalised but that if it all goes well he could be presented at the club elections…

Sterling is class – but would he actually be missed if he left after the season he just had?

Barcelona have given the likes of CHELSEA the green light to try and sign Xavi Simons this summer.

The 21-year-old, after bagging 19 goals and eight assists during a loan at PSV Eindhoven last season, has racked up 10 goals and 15 assists during his stint at RB Leipzig this season.

There has been talk that he will head back to parent club PSG at the end of the season to be given a chance in their squad – but that ha snot stopped speculation that a number of Premier League clubs will make a cheeky offer for the talented attacker.

Now As per Sport, Barcelona’s economic situation has ruled them out of the race for Simons as they believe they will not be able to compete with the deal that other clubs will be able to offer, giving the club a transfer boost.

Enzo Maresca will be desperate to add to his attack this summer and Simons is regarded very highly across Europe.

Amid all the speculation that Man United are interested in a deal for the attacker – Ruud Van Nistelrooy recently sang the praises of the exciting star: “Xavi Simons is in the spotlight, he is not a new discovery, but I think that he will continue to grow to a world-class level.

“I had him at PSV, now he is at Leipzig taking his next steps. I say that he is a player for a great team even as a starter.

“He has character, he is professional, he is focused on getting the most out of his potential.

“And then he has quality, he is very complete, he knows how to do many things well. He can dribble, he scores goals, he is great in transitions, he plays in small spaces. I see him as very complete.”
