Leverkusen sends Cheslea transfer message about the fee to sign up Havertz

Bayer Leverkusen are adamant that Chelsea cannot expect a coronavirus discount on Kai Havertz’s transfer fee.

The Germany playmaker is reported to be close to a £70million move to the Premier League this summer, where he would join up with his compatriot Timo Werner and Antonio Rudiger at Stamford Bridge.

He is the top target for boss Frank Lampard, who will need an immediate replacement for Brazilian Willian, who looks all set to depart the club and sign for London rivals Arsenal.

However, any hope that they had that they could get a small discount on Havertz will not happen, as Sporting director Rudi Voller Voller has now confirmed the Blues will have to fork out a club-record fee to lure Havertz away from his current surroundings.

Asked if Leverkusen have already agreed to sell Havertz,he told Gazzetta dello Sport: “No, but with his talent, it means he’s on the list of all the best clubs.

“We know of the interest of a couple of clubs, especially Chelsea, but for us, the situation is quite simple; he has a two-year contract, if anyone wants him on our terms, fine, otherwise he stays here another year and we are happy.

“It won’t be easy, but for an artist like him there is no Covid discount.”

Although we believe that Havertz would be a world class signing for us, we cannot be ripped off and pay too much for the lad, espedcially as he still has alot to prove and isnt even proven in the Premier League.
