Chelsea to submit offer to sign physical Premier League defender

Reports have claimed Chelsea will put an offer in to sign Leicester City defender Caglar Soyuncu

With the fact that both Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger are leaving the club on a free deal in the next couple of weeks – Thomas Tuchel knows he needs to add defenders to the squad.

Tuchel knows he needs to move quickly to try to stem the tide of outgoings, as the duo – Alongside Thiago Silva, they have been the men to give the Chelsea defence some of its bite and improvement this season.

That has led to many reports suggesting that a new defender is now high up on the shopping list of Tuchel and they have been linked with a whole host of players from La Liga – Ligue 1 and Seria A

But Leicester centre-back Caglar Soyuncu has been linked as a potential replacement for those departing – despite the fact he was once behind Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans in the King Power pecking order.

But his performances meant that he has been voted into the PFA team of the season and according to AS, for £19million the 26-year-old Turkey international is seen as a reasonable fit for the club.

But With just one year to run on his contract, there is plenty of interest with Real Madrid and Manchester City cited as possible rivals.

Soyuncu may not have the pace to cope with the most speedy players in the Premier League – but there is not doubt that he has the leadership and physical presence to be a real asset to this side

Add that to the fact he is Premier League proven – means he could walk straight into that team and slot in nicely alongside Thiago Silva
