Rummenigge announcement opens door for Chelsea to make Thiago offer?
Liverpool have yet to make an approach for Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara, which has opened the door for Chelsea to make a move.
There has been some shock reports circling the media over the past few weeks that Thiago is done in the Bundesliga and is keen to leave Bayern in the transfer widow, with reports suggesting that Liverpool are winning the race to sign the Brazilian star.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp knows that he needs to improve the squad in the summer and reports suggested that he was keen to try and complete a bargain £31 million transfer deal to sign Thiago.
However, according to Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Thiago had held talks with sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic but no offers had been made yet, meaning that we could swoop in and try to get a deal done.
Speaking at the unveiling of summer signing Leroy Sane: “Hasan had talks with Thiago,” Rummenigge was quoted on BILD
“Curiously they were always very positive. But he told Hasan some time ago that he wants to do something new to finish his career.
“So far no club has contacted us. We don’t know if he’s settled things with a new club.”
Look, Thiago is a world class midfielder that has some serious ability on the ball, so for that £31 million asking price that he will be going for, we would be massive fools not to make a move and try to bring him to the club.
There is always room to have good players in the squad, and that is what Thiago would bring to the club
