Lampard looking to wrap up striker deal after Chelsea table offer to sign world class hitman

Chelsea have tabled a £4.6m (€5.5m) bid for Napoli star Dries Mertens, it’s claimed.
Despite their decent start to the new season and the fact they have some of the best creative players in the Premier League, with the likes of Willian, Mateo Kovacic, Jorginho and Mason Mount just a few names to be mentioned, there is a lot of speculation about who Frank Lampard could sign.
It is no secret that we are in need of adding a striker to the side this transfer window as star man Tammy Abraham has picked up an injury, Michy Batshuayi is decent on his day and Olivier Giroud is seemingly destined to get his p45 and marching orders.
And after reportedly missing out on the likes of Moussa Dembele and Edinson Cavani, reports have now claimed that we will have to turn our attentions elsewhere, with reports claim the we are closing in on Mertens.
The Belgian is also set to become a free agent at the end of the season after seven years in Naples and he’s already said to be in talks with tus about a possible move to Stamford Bridge this month for a small fee.
Lampard has been pressuring the Chelsea board to sign a striker before the transfer deadline shuts, and and Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri says we have made a move for Napoli’s Mertens.
He tweeted: “Chelsea have bid 5.5m€ for Napoli’s Mertens who will be free agent at the end of the season.”
Look, there is not a lot of time left in the transfer window to get deals done and if he are seeking to nail down Mertens, we should get a deal wrapped up soon as the £4.6 million asking price is not alot of money to spend.
