Possible Chelsea signing ‘a fantastic player – can bring something special’ – Tuchel told

Manchester City star Raheem Sterling won’t solve Chelsea’s problems, says former star Franck Leboeuf – but he has admitted that the attacker ‘is a fantastic player and can bring something special’
With Romelu Lukaku set to return to Inter Milan, Thomas Tuchel has been given significant money to invest in his frontline and he feels Sterling can play a more central role at Stamford Bridge.
Sterling has scored over 100 goals for Man City and won countless Premier League titles under boss Pep Guardiola – but he is one of the players that the Spanish boss is ready to let leave
Sterling has 12 months to run on his existing deal and though he’s not handed in a transfer request because Man City are ready to let him leave – he has now told the club that he is ready for a fresh challenge away from the club
And that allowed Chelsea to make their moves to try and get a transfer deal done – and are now working very hard to complete the £35 million signing of Sterling
However – despite all the rumours that Thomas Tuchel is very keen to secure a transfer deal for Sterling – Leboeuf has opened up and sent a clear message to his former club about a possible transfer deal for the attacker
Leboeuf told ESPN: “If you have Sterling at his best, no doubt that it’s a plus.
“But what kind of player Chelsea would get I don’t know. Definitely he’s a fantastic player and can bring something special.
“That’s not going to resolve the problems Chelsea have, I think in terms of scoring goals and bringing the confidence back to all the players.
“What it’s not going to resolve as well is the crosses from the two wings, by Reece James and [Ben Chilwell].
“It’s going to be tricky if they don’t find somebody who can head the ball because neither Sterling nor Werner, Pulisic or even Mount are capable of giving something special from crosses.
“Maybe Havertz can but it’s not enough in the squad.”
