Chelsea staff worried about the possible £80 million signing of gifted midfielder
Chelsea staff are reportedly doubtful over the potential signing of Declan Rice this transfer window
Rice has been a player that has been in the transfer headlines alot over the past 12 months as the whole of the Premier League know that he is developing into one of the best holding midfielders in the League.
We are the club most linked with a transfer move for the England International, with constant reports in the media suggesting that he is the number one transfer target for Frank Lampard.
However, the latest reports in the media have revealed that some on the staff are very doubtful that Rice is worth the money, and are doubtful that he has the quality to make this Midfield much better than it already is
David Orstein told the Athletic’s YouTube channel: “This [Rice] is a target driven by Lampard and there are some at Stamford Bridge who harbour reservations, including over whether Rice has corrected certain perceived weaknesses that contributed to the decision to release him from their academy as a teenager.
“And also, the sure scale of finance it would take to get him out of West Ham.”
Rice has proven himself to be a very good midfielder in the Premier League, but there are still alot of answers that he needs to prove before the Hammers can justify putting that massive £80 million price tag on his head.
We would like to see the club make a move for the young man and bring him to the club, but at the end of the day, we should not be paying too much money for a player that has not reached his peak yet.
If we get him for around £50 million, great! Anymore than that and it is a rip off
