Chelsea urged to complete deal and get three-year Willian agreement reached
Graeme Souness reckons Chelsea should stump up a three-year deal to keep hold of their “best player” Willian.
Willian has been in the headlines for the last few months as there has been constant reports suggesting that he wants to stay this summer, but is not being offered the three-year deal that he wants.
It is understood that we are only willing to offer an extra two years to the Brazilian winger – which has caused for much frustration to the fans, club and the player himself that clearly wants to stay.
And amid all the speculation, Souness reckons the club would regret letting Willian slip through the cracks and believes that they should offer him the three-year contract that he currently desires.
He told Sky Sports: “I think he’s their best player. He wants a three-year [deal], they’ve offered two. I’d be giving it to him
“You watch him play, he doesn’t look like a player to me whose legs are going anytime soon and he’s got great qualities.
“So I would be bending over backwards to keep him at the football club.”
Willian has been a big part of the side since the re-start of football and has been impressing for us, so yes he deserves a new contract.
But with all the exciting players that could be arriving this summer, his time at the club would be over, so maybe signing the two-year deal is the best option for him, as he would then have options when that contract runs out.
Will he stay? we dont know…but all indications suggest that he wont
