Chelsea signing told ‘he will have to work hard’ after joining club this summer
Former CHELSEA full-back Glen Johnson insisted Brazilian star Joao Pedro will have to work hard to ensure he succeeds at CHELSEA after officially completing his move to Stamford Bridge early this July.
The Blues swooped to add another option to their front line with the Brazil international signing a seven-year deal at Stamford Bridge. Newcastle United were also eager to sign the 23-year-old with Pedro preferring a move to London.
Jamie Gittens has just signed, Liam Delap arrived at the start of the transfer window from Ipswich Town along with Mamadou Sarr from Strasbourg. Dario Essugo has also arrived from Sporting CP after a deal was struck in March with Brazilian sensation Estevao Willian will join up with his new teammates after the Club World Cup.
We have agreed a deal worth £55m with £5m in add-ons with Brighton with Pedro departing after two seasons at the AMEX, and now Johnson has come out and told the Brazilian star that he will have to work hard in order to make an impact at Stamford Bridge
‘It will all depend on how Joao Pedro starts, whether he will get regular minutes,’ Johnson told Metro via 888sport. ‘I like him as a player but obviously he’s making a big step up from Brighton, no disrespect to them obviously.
‘It will be interesting to see what he can do now with better players. If you want to play regularly for a team challenging for the Premier League title, then you have to kick on. How he starts will be very important for his CHELSEA prospects.’
