Welcome to the Bridge Xavier as free agent agrees three-year Chelsea move
Chelsea have officially confirmed the signing of Xavier Mbuyamba from Barcelona on a free transfer.
They have been linked with some big names over the past few weeks, and fans are hoping for some big time players to arrive, but twe will also be keeping an eye out for some of the best talents in the game.
Mbuyamba moved to the Nou Camp last summer from MVV Maastricht in his homeland but has not got the kind of game time that he had been hoping for, with his representative confirming he was already looking to continue his development.
But he has now agreed to make the move to the Bridge as the 18-year-old centre-back has signed on a free transfer until 2023, but is likely to play youth football for the Blues or be shipped out on loan in the immediate future as he is not ready to make an impact on the first team just yet.
We announced on their club website: “Chelsea Football Club can also confirm the signing of Xavier Mbuyamba from Barcelona.
“The 18-year-old signed a professional contract at Cobham earlier this week and will join our development squad ahead of preparations for the new campaign.”
Mbuyamba is certainly a player that could develop very nicely and the fact that we have snapped him up from Barcelona is a massive achievement.
We will be keeping a very close eye on his development as he could turn into a real special player.
Welcome to the Bridge Xavier
