Chelsea should look to complete signing of £80M man
Chelsea may now look to make a move for Crystal Palace star Wilfred Zaha now that Raheem Sterling is set to be out for longer than expected with a hamstring problem.
The forward went off injured during the clubs defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League on 5 January and has missed the subsequent defeats to the same side in the Carabao Cup and then Fulham in the league.
It was hoped that the England star would be back for the trip to Liverpool on 21 January, but The Athletic recently repprted that he will be out for much longer – and they state that the new target for Sterling to return is the trip to Germany to face Borussia Dortmund on 15 February.
And according to reporter Iomie Stanley – a move for Zaha could now be well stepped up – he told icfootballnews: ‘Potter is having a terrible time of it as Chelsea boss – all these injuries are mounting up.
‘Losing Sterling is a massive blow, but to be honest with you, he has not been at his best since the move to London has he?
‘There was already alot of speculation about who would be arriving this transfer window, and now it seems that Zaha could finally get that big move.
‘Mudryk has been signed as a player for the future – but Zaha is a player for now.’
‘Zaha is easily one of the most dangerous wingers in the Premier League and should be at a top six side now – so with Chelsea desperate to improve the squad a move for the winger should happen.
‘He is ready, his contract demands of £150k-a-week is not alot and the fact that his contract is real low means that they can get him for a bargain price.
‘Palace know that offers are coming – so not that they have seen that Chelsea have lost another winger – they will surely be expecting an offer from across London.”
‘And i would be massively shocked to not see something happen in the coming days.’
