Chelsea are looking to spend big in the January transfer window and acquire Napoli star Elsaid Hysaj.
We were in need of adding a brand new defender to the back-line in the summer and were heavily linked with a move for Hysaj well before they managed to secure a deal for Maurizio Sarri, who was let go by the Italians and replaced by Carlo Ancelotti.
And the Italian boss was widely expected to complete a deal for Hysaj after arriving at Stamford Bridge to follow up the arrivals of Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic and Kepa, who have all made a brilliant start to life in the Premier League.
However, Napoli were playing hard-ball and did not want to let another one of their biggest players leave the club, especially to follow Sarri to Stamford Bridge as they did not want their former boss to continue stealing their players.
But after the spanking of Tottenham last weekend and the failings of David Luiz, the Tele Sport have claimed we are now seeking to sign Hysaj in the January window with Sarri telling the clubs hierarchy to get a deal done.
The Italian boss knows Hysaj wanted to make the move to Stamford Bridge but couldn’t complete the deal thanks to the Napoli President.
Would Hysaj be welcome at Stamford Bridge?
Hysaj is a real powerhouse that has the attributes to deal with even the best of strikers in the Premier League, so bringing him in would not be a big risk for Sarri as Hysaj has proven he is already one of the best centre-backs in Europe.
So if these reports are true, then Hysaj would be a great signing for the club, and a better alternative to the unimpressive Luiz.
