Marcos Alonso has signed a five-year deal with Chelsea, and boss Maurizio Sarri has told him he can now become the very best.
Since making the move to Stamford Bridge a few seasons ago, Alonso has proven critics wrong and turned into one of the best Left-backs in world football, becoming a real source of creativity just behind star man Eden Hazard.
But there has been some speculation that Real Madrid may swoop in at the end of the season and offer him a way back to La Liga as the Spaniards seek to rebuild a side that is seemingly falling apart now that Cristiano Ronaldo has left the club.
However, Alonso has ended all speculation surrounding his future for now and admitted he is looking forward to more seasons at Stamford Bridge, telling the club’s official website: “I am so happy to stay here longer and to keep playing for one of the best teams in the world. It’s been a very good two seasons and I am looking forward to more.
And after seeing Alonso pen the deal, Sarri says he can still improve and believes he can emerge as the best left-back in Europe, stating:. ‘I’m very happy for him. He can be the best left-back in Europe. He needs to improve in the defensive phase as he played in a five more, now he plays in a four.
‘If he can improve he can be the best left-back in Europe.”
Can Alonso now push on to be the best in world football? Here are our thoughts.
Simply put, yes he can become the very best in world football as he is already up there with the games top five, so with a little bit of hard-work and Sarri helping Alonso is developing his weaknesses, it will not be long before he is regarded as the best around.
I just hope he does that that Stamford Bridge as Real Madrid will still look to chuck money at us to try and secure a deal in the summer, especially if Alonso has another good season at the club.
