Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has been named in Garth Crooks’s Team of the Week for a second week running, with rumours that he could leave the club.

Rudiger, 28, is out of contract at the end of the season and therefore free to talk to foreign teams from as early as January over a potential move away from Stamford Bridge.

There has been alot of interest in a player that has become a big part of the squad at Stamford Bridge, with the likes of PSG, Juventus and even Barcelona all keeping a very close eye on the developments at the club

However, on the pitch he continues to be brilliant and show just why there is alot of interest in his services, and why the club are keen to try and keep hold ahead of the January transfer window

It was another solid display from the German on the left-hand side of a back three in the 1-1 draw against Manchester United, and he could have snatched the winner in the dying moments of the match.

And amid all the speculation that Chelsea ARE CLOSING IN ON A NEW DEAL FOR RUDIGER, ands In his weekly BBC column, Crooks praised the physicality of Rudiger’s game and how his strong start to the season has been key to the clubs success.

‘He made a fabulous tackle in the first half which set the tone for his entire contribution to the match,’ wrote Crooks. ‘Rudiger loves a battle and the fixtures against Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City are made for the likes of him.

‘There are times, of course, when Rudiger is actually looking for confrontations even when they aren’t there – in which case he will create his own. He’s not averse to scoring the odd goal every now and then either, provided it’s on his head and he’s attacking the opposition’s goal.

‘He was presented with a glorious chance during the closing minutes of the game against Manchester United and blasted the ball high, wide and handsome.

‘Virgil van Dijk had a similar chance against Southampton and buried it. Two world-class defenders and both make my team of the week.’

It is crazy to think that Rudiger could leave the club on a free transfer deal, he is world class and we are hoping that the board hurry up and make sure that he stays at the Bridge
