Chelsea release statement and welcome BRAND NEW arrival
CHELSEA have signed 16-year-old midfielder Ollie Harrison from Newcastle, it has been announced.
The club have been signing a whole load of players over the course of the transfer window – and adding players to both the acadamy squads and the first-team – and they have been busy once again.
Harrison, who has been capped by England at youth level, has signed a scholarship agreement at the club after the club agreed to bring him in from Newcastle United, who have just taken Lewis Hall to the Toon.
He will feature for the Blues’ Under-18s this season in the U18 Premier League.
WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –
The Blues announced: ‘The 16-year-old arrives from Newcastle United and will continue his development this season with our Under-18s, who started their campaign on Saturday with a victory over Crystal Palace.
‘Harrison has been capped by England at under-16 level and was part of the side that this year won the Mondial Montaigu Tournament in France.
‘Welcome to CHELSEA, Ollie!’
IcChelseanews View…
The lad is certainly a talent and the club must believe that he could go a long way in the game – but honestly guys – he should have stayed at the Toon and tried to make it there.
We hate to see young players just get signed and then forgotten about – we want to see more talents turn into stars of the game – so even though we are happy that Ollie has chosen to make the move to Stamford Bridge – we are not sure that it is the right move at this stage of his career.
