Chelsea will open talks with Memphis Depay about a possible free transfer deal.

After enduring a terrible time of it at Manchester United, Depay made the move to France to reignite his career and so far it has worked out, as he has become one of the most deadly players in Ligue 1.

It has led to alot of speculation in the media that we are interested in trying to secure a deal in the coming windows, and Depay has done nothing to put an end to those rumours.

The former PSV star insists he is completely focused on Lyon for the time being as his side look to stay in contention for the Ligue 1 title, but he does not know where he will be next year.

“To be honest, we have a great team here. I don’t know what will happen next year. I’m an OL player, the captain, and I’m here to win things, games and be important for the team. This is my main goal,” he said at a press conference.

“If I start thinking about my future, I might lose my focus. I am 100 per cent with OL. What will happen in the future, we’ll see. That’s what I’ve always said.

But there are now reports on the Daily Express websit which have suggested that the club may decide to open talks this month in a bid to win the race for the Dutchman.

It will be very interesting to see where Depay makes his next move too, as he has now outgrown Lyon and needs to make a move to a bigger club in order to see if he has the ability to play at the very highest level of the game.
