Chelsea are keen to sign up Fiorentina star Federico Chiesa ahead of Manchester United.

Chelsea were linked with a whole host of transfer targets in the summer as we looked to sign a few players that could help Maurizio Sarri challenge Manchester City for the Premier league title, and 20-year-old Chiesa was reportedly high up on the transfer list of the Italian boss after another impressive season in Italy.

But the Daily Express website has claimed Sarri is looking to delve into his transfer window during the January transfer window, and is confident that he can complete a £52 million deal for Chiesa, which is just below what the Italians are looking for.

However, we will be in a huge transfer battle to land the highly-rated winger as United boss Jose Mourinho is also keen to try and acquire his services in the January transfer window, with the special one desperate to add some creative talent to his attack.

Chiesa recently admitted there had been offers to leave Fiorentina in the summer, but the club rejected any approach, he told Corriere della Sera: ‘Fiorentina refused offers of £63m. The summer has been peaceful, there were no anxieties related to the market because, in agreement with the club, I decided that I would stay in Florence.

‘It was the best choice, and knowing that I’m worth so much does not detract from my sleep, nor does it affect my life. Prices in recent years have skyrocketed and I’m simply going to try and not think about it.’

Will Chiesa be a good signing for the club if Sarri manages to complete a transfer deal?

With all the reports linking star man Eden Hazard with a move away from Stamford Bridge and onto Real Madrid, Sarri is eyeing up potential long-term replacements for the Belgian superstar, and right now there are not too many talented wingers in world football that could develop into real superstars, and Chiesa is one of them.

But even though we would love to see him arrive in the coming transfer windows, maybe it would be a better idea that he stays out for one or two more seasons until he is fully ready to become a Blue and possibly take over from Hazard.
