Arsenal boss Unai Emery has revealed that Chelsea target Aaron Ramsey will definitely not be getting a new contract at the Emirates.
The Welshman has been at the Emirates for over a decade, made over 341 appearances and scored 59 goals since joining from Cardiff City for just under £5m in 2008, and has helped the Gunners win three FA Cups, scoring the wines in two of the three finals.
But after months of talks, Arsenal decided not to hand Ramsey a new contract with reports that they were not prepared to offer him the £350,000-a-week contract he desired and were only prepared to bump up his weekly wage to around £200,000-a-week.
But after not knowing why Arsenal pulled out of a deal, the Sky Sports website claim discussions finally took place after the 2-2 draw with Cardiff at the weekend and the Welshman has finally accepted he will be leaving the club after finally be given the real answer as to why talks suddenly stopped.
And that was all but confirmed by Emery, with the Arsenal boss saying: “Aaron and the club can speak and he can think for his individual contract with the club and with his thinking maybe of the possibility that he won’t continue here.
“But, for me, for us and for the team, it’s about being together and getting better and in each training for us.”
Could we really make a move for the Welshman?
It is crazy to think that Ramsey could be playing his football at Stamford Bridge next season, and for absolutely nothing as he will just walk out the door when this year is over, it is a very bad bit of business by Arsenal.
But even though we believe there are better players out there, Ramsey is just about to hit his prime and still has many seasons at the very top of the game still to go, so if we can get him on a three-year deal worth around £250,000-a-week, then we will be not losing much as the Welshman will bring something different to our squad.[the_ad id=”238″]
