Watford star Roberto Pereyra admits he is thrilled to be linked strongly with signing for Chelsea this coming January transfer window.
Pereyra has caught the attentions of boss Maurizio Sarri this season with a number of fine performances for the Hornets and has already netted five goals in the Premier League this season.
Sarri knows that admiring glances from Spanish giants Real Madrid for star man Eden Hazard is turning the Belgians head, especially since the £200 million rated winger has ‘dream’s to one day make the move to La Liga and play on a regular basis at the Bernabeu.
Pereyra’s time with Juventus is understood to have added to the clubs belief he could thrive at Stamford Bridge and the winger has fuelled speculation that he could make a move after admitting he is flattered by the interest of Sarri.
He was quoted on the Sky Sports website: “Now I hope to keep going like I am now, with a club like Chelsea mentioned. It’s nice that you talk about a team that is so fond of me.”
Why would we seriously make a move for Pereyra?
The winger has been in decent form this season for Watford and interest in his services is deserved, but there is a reason why Juventus let him go and that is because he is simply not good enough to compete at the very highest level on a consistent basis, meaning he is not good enough to be a Blue.
If Sarri needs some strength in depth for the domestic cups and Europa League, then yes Pereyra would be a good signing for like £10 million. But as a possible replacement for star man Hazard, then there is no way that he is good enough to fill the void at the club if he leaves for Real Madrid at the end of the season.
