Manuel Pellegrini insists Chelsea target Marko Arnautovic is only focused on performing for West Ham.
Since being turned into a striker at the Hammers, Arnautovic has shown some great goal-scoring qualities up top and already has five goals to his name this season.
His pace, power and ability to lead the line has attracted interest from Maurizio Sarri over the last few weeks, especially since Arnautovic announced that he is now keen to play Champions League football at a big club.
But amidst all the speculation surrounding his star man, Pellegrini does not want to lose Arnautovic and has admitted that the striker is fully focused on doing a job for the Hammers.
‘He is a West Ham player because he has a contract here, he is happy here,’ said the Chilean coach on the Sky Sports website.
‘Every player always wants to play in the biggest team but I don’t think that Marko is thinking about that.
‘He is thinking about West Ham and he tries to make his best performance in every game.’
Is Arnautovic really ready for a big club like ours?
As a back-up yes he is, but as a regular starter I would not like to see him in the starting line-up on a regular basis as he simply cannot keep the consistency at a high level and is only doing well for the Hammers because they literally have no one else.
To play for us he needs a lot more to his game and I am hoping that Sarri does not make a move, and goes for a Gonzalo Higuaín or Mauro Icardi, who will score 20-30 goals a season.
