Chelsea have announced that Kenedy has joined Brazilian side Flamengo after agreeing to extend his contract with the club

Thomas Tuchel has just managed to persuade the board to splash almost £100 million on the signing of Romelu Lukaku, meaning that the club will need to sell a few players in order to get some of that cash back.

And that means players, like Kenedy, who has not really been able to make any sort of impact at the club since his move to the club, is all set to depart Stamford Bridge for a move back to Brazilian football.

Kenedy is out of favour at Stamford Bridge and the winger has been holding talks with Brazilian club Flamengo over a move for a few weeks now, but today it has been announced that he will be leaving the club for the next 12 months

The club announced on the club website: ‘Kenedy has extended his contract with the club and returned to Brazil on loan with Flamengo for the 2021/22 season.

‘The winger will spend the coming campaign back in his homeland after completing his switch to Flamengo, who share the same Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro as his first professional club Fluminense.

‘Flamengo are the current reigning league champions in both the national Brazilian Serie A and the regional Rio de Janeiro State Championship.’

Kenedy was signed by the club as a big talent for the future, but a number of loans and lack of chances at the club has meant that his career in England has not been the success that he had hoped for

So the news that he is going back to Brazilian football is not a big surprise as this would be the best thing for the man.
