Chelsea now have clear run to complete £300 million Erling Haaland deal after Real Madrid decision
Chelsea have been handed a boost in the race for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland in the summer.
Haaland has a contract with Dortmund until 2024 but is understood to have a release clause that can be activated in the summer that would allow him to leave the club for around £65 million, far below his current market value.
That has led to many reports in the media that all the biggest clubs in the game are eager to make a move at the end of the season and offer him a £500,000-a-week contract to leave the Bundesliga side.
It is no secret that the club are long time admirers of the star and are looking at the possibility to adding a new forward to the attack in the summer, especially as Romelu Lukaku hits the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
According to the Daily Star, Real Madrid have pulled out of a potential deal for the Norwegian, with the operation costing too much, meaning that we may only have to fend off the likes of PSG and Manchester City to possible complete a deal
The news after Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg recently claimed that Bayern Munich will not make a move for Haaland either, he said: “It’s important to know that he bosses from Bayern Munich have made it official that they want to extend with Robert Lewandoswki.
“It’s the question of a new long-term contract. His agent is waiting for a call from Bayern, but it has been confirmed today in an interview with Sky Sports. So everything is under way for a new contract, now they have to talk.
“I don’t think Erling Haaland will move to Bayern Munich because he is much too expensive. That’s not a question right now.
“Now they have to wait for the ‘yes’ from Lewandowski. But if he says no, Haaland could be a real option for Bayern.”

The club would be fools not to try and get a deal done and now that Bayern and Madrid will probably not make a move, that two less clubs they have to challenge
