Chelsea news: £40M midfielder told ‘he will do well’ if he makes summer move
Frank McAvennie has claimed CHELSEA midfielder Mateo Kovacic would be a good fit for Man United.
Kovacic, 28, has entered the final 14 months of his contract at Stamford Bridge and is free to discuss a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs in January 2024. The club do not want to lose the man, but there is a feeling that he is ready to depart the club.
Bayern Munich have been linked with a move for the midfielder – but according to McVennie – he would be a very good addition to that Manchester United squad.
Boss Erik Ten Hag is looking to improve over the summer window and Kovacic is a man that he is reportedly interested in. When asked if the Blues would be willing to sell a player to one of their competitors, McAvennie told Football Insider: “I think so.
“I do not think there will be any problems.
“You can’t have 40 people in your dressing room, they had to knock a wall down, that is not right. There is no harmony, there is no togetherness, no bonding. It is too big.
“You have got to get that down to 25. They have got to get that sorted. I could see it Kovacic going to Man United. He is a decent player I think he would do well there.“
