Transfer chief Marina Granovskaia to sanction January Chelsea transfer deal as Merson makes Rudiger claim

Paul Merson wants to see Antonio Rudiger brought back into the Chelsea fold.

The German defender has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford bridge this season and has been frozen out by Frank Lampard after seeking guarantees over playing time ahead of next summer’s Euros.

He was heavily linked with a move away from the club over the transfer window, but a shock decision to stay has meant that he has been keeping the bench warm while Thiago Silva and Kurt Zouma impress at the back for Frank Lampard.

But despite the reports that he could leave in the January window, Merson wants to see Rudiger brought back into the  fold, he was quoted on the SUN: “Antonio Rudiger should get more games for Chelsea because he’s their best option next to Thiago Silva.

“It’s a good thing he’s back in the team after they tried to sell him in the window, and he could still play a big role this season.

“Frank Lampard has gone back to basics after the 3-3 draw with Southampton and it’s worked for Chelsea.

“When you’re a young manager it’s easy to think you have to entertain all the time. But sometimes you need to have a solid base to work from.

“Since that game they’ve kept three clean sheets in a row and they look much more secure at the back.”

Meanwhile, transfer chief Marina Granovskaia will sanction the departure of left-back Emerson Palmieri in January.

The left-back has also fallen well down the pecking order at the Bridge, and it seems that he no longer has a future at the club, and is definitely not part of Lampards immediate plans over the next 12 months.

Area Napoli reports the Brazil-born Italy international is Napoli’s target for the winter transfer window, and the reports suggests that Granovskaia will agree to let Emerson leave on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy.

Inter Milan have also been linked with a move for the 26-year-old, but Napoli are still favourites to get a transfer deal done.
