Rennes have confirmed they are in talks with Chelsea to sell Edouard Mendy, who wants to join the Blues
We have been a very busy club in this transfer window, we all know that, but Frank Lampard reportedly believes that he needs to add another stopper and defensive midfielder to the squad, so the summer spree is not over yet.
And we are closing in on their next big transfer target as Rennes have confirmed they are in talks with the club to sell Edouard Mendy, who will reportedly cost the Blues around £30 million to sign this summer.
President Nicolas Holveck was quoted on Sky Sports: “We’ve started official negotiations with Chelsea to sell Edouard Mendy.
“We know the player wants to leave [and join Chelsea].
“But the agreement at the moment is not 100 per cent completed between the three parties.”
Despite the news, Kepa Arrizabalaga is reportedly ready to fight Edouard Mendy to be number one, and the Spaniard has no intention of leaving Stamford Bridge and is happy to stay and fight for his place.
Kepa’s camp reportedly feel that he would relish and even benefit from the increased competition for a starting spot, as he has had it pretty easy since his move from la Liga just a few seasons ago.
We will welcome Mendy this transfer window and believe that he will be a very good addition to have in the side, so we are glad to hear that he will be signed by the club
