The mayor of Paris has become the latest figure to try and persuade Kylian Mbappe to stay at PSG, with Chelsea reportedly interested in a deal

The France forward is expected to leave the Parc des Princes at the end of the season when his contract expires, with Chelsea, Liverpool and Real Madrid all keen to wrap up a deal.

The Spaniards are favourites to win the race for Mbappe, but with funds tight, they may not be able to match his £600,000-a-week wage demands to keep tempt him to the Spanish League, opening the door to a Premier League move

Despite never playing in the Premier League, it’s hard to envisage Mbappe struggling to adapt to the rigours of the Premier League given he has impressed when playing English opposition on the Champions League.

But amid all the speculation, the mayor of Paris has now come out and urged the striker to stay with PSG, When asked about Mbappe, Hidalgo told TV programme Tele Loisirs: “Oh yes! Let him stay, let him help us!

“Above all, I think that beyond football and results he is so important, so useful to give hope to our young people. [That] is why I want him to stay.

“I don’t have a bribe. But I just wanted to say that we love him so much.

“Just love, affection, and telling him that he is, in our country, in this city, such an example for many young people. He is aware of it.”

Look, Mbappe is the best player in the game right now and the fact that clubs could sign him for free is madness. He will probably leave PSG, So it will be interesting to see just where he ends up

I hope that we can bring him to the Bridge
