Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca confirms Blues decision on signing striker this January

Enzo Maresca has insisted that CHELSEA don’t need to sign a “killer” centre forward, despite Nicolas Jackson’s recent woes in front of goal over the past few months in which he has struggled to fins the back of the net.

Jackson has started 20 of the clubs 22 Premier League fixtures since the start of the 2024-25 season, with Christopher Nkunku and Marc Guiu unable to displace the 23-year-old in Maresca’s preferred starting XI.

However – despite being given numerous chances to lead that attack and score goals on a regular basis, Jackson has really struggled to score the goals that many fans hope he would by now, with many suggestions claiming that a new striker needs to be signed.

But ahead of the clubs Premier League clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday, Maresca was asked whether the club will look to bring a new striker to Stamford Bridge before the January transfer window closes.

“No, because I think by being a little bit more lucky, we can convert and can score more goals,” Maresca told reporters.

“It’s not about [signing] a ‘killer’. In this moment, the one that’s probably missing the goal is Nico. But the way he is working is fantastic, and we don’t have any doubt that Nico is soon going to start scoring goals.”

There is no doubt that Nicolas Jackson is a hard worker, he suits that Enzo Maresca attack perfectly, the only problem is his lack of goals for the club, he needs to score more, and if he can do that, he will be a class striker
