Napoli defender Nikola Maksimovic has admitted that he is flattered by interest from Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri.
The Serbian’s form has sparked talk of a reunion with his old manager Sarri, at Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window as speculation continues to grow that the Italian boss is not happy with his current back-line.[the_ad id=”238″]
Despite our great start to the new season, the likes of David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger have not been good enough at times this season and look very shaky when it comes to the big games, while young defender Andreas Christensen is eyeing up a move away from Stamford Bridge.
And Sarri was reportedly eyeing up a whopping £60 million deal for Maksimovic in case he failed to acquire the services of his top transfer targets, but the defender has announced he has no desire to leave Napoli in the near future, but has tanks Sarri for his interest.
“I also want to thank Sarri, he was very attentive,” Maksimovic told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli when asked about his upturn in form.
“Could I join him at Chelsea? I’m fine here! I actually don’t have anything bad to say about him, but I’m happy here, as are my family. I want to show my value.”
Will we sign a defender in the January transfer window.
Maksimovic may not want the move to Stamford Bridge in the coming transfer windows, but there are quite a few players in Europe right now that would be tempted to play under the Italian boss and we are sure that Sarri will bring in a top-class defender.
We have been linked with Milan Skriniar, Toby Alderweireld, Kalidou Koulibaly and Daniele Rugani all over the past few months, and all of those players would come in and help shore up the back line.
So if he wants to bring in a world class defender this January, then yes a deal will get done as Roman Abramovic will back his boss.
