Chelsea backed to complete signing of £77 million star

Chelsea are reportedly leading the race to sign RB Leipzig star Josko Gvardiol in the coming transfer windows.

The club were looking for centre-backs in the market after the departures of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger – and managed to bring in Wesley Fofana and Kalidou Koulibaly so far

But with all the games that we will be playing in over the course of the season – that may not be enough, and it has been claimed that a move for Gvardiol was on the agenda of former boss Thomas Tuchel

However – despite the rumours that the club were in deep talks for Gvardiol and the player was very keen on a move to Stamford Bridge – a move never happened as contact was made far too late in the transfer window

Then, Gvardiol shocked many at Stamford Bridge by agreeing a new contract at RB – meaning that the club will have to pay even more than the £77 million they were prepared to pay in the summer – but many rumours suggested that they will be back.

Now – According to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, Chelsea are supposedly ahead of Juventus in the running, who were also interested in the talented 20-year-old’s signature.

It is believed that is because we have more financial power than Juventus to meet the asking price of £77 million for the Defender
