Red Devils hero Ferdinand backs Chelsea to sign ‘perfect’ Maurizio Sarri replacement this summer

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand believes Frank Lampard would be the perfect man to replace Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea.

Sarri was brought in to get Champions League football for next season, which he accomplished by finishing third in the Premier League, and then added the Europa League title to his cabinet, which should have saved his job with the club.

However, reports have now claimed that we are lining up a number of possible replacements for Sarri after they agreed to let him leave the club and make a move to Italian giants Juventus.

And after it emerged that we had opened talks to sign Lampard from Derby, Ferdinand has backed Lampardd to replace Sarri when he leaves the club in the coming days.

‘He is the perfect choice,’ Ferdinand stated on the Sky Sports website.

‘People talk about experience and what-not but what experience did Pep (Guardiola) have when he went into Barcelona’s first team? He trained the younger kids at the club.

‘Frank knows the club and he knows the players and the players will respect him. You can see he can carry himself in a particular way in front of the media and in the football club and he can change things within a season.’

We all love Lampard here at the club, he is a legend that helped the club to so much success over the seasons, so we would love to see him make a return to the club in the future.

But he is not the right man to lead the club right now, he still has a lot to learn in the game before coming back and we would prefer him to gain some experience at the top level before coming back, especially as Roman Abramovic has a habit of sacking managers after a few bad results.

Chelsea need someone like Max Allegri, Diego Simeone or even Jose Mourinho, all top level managers that have a habit of winning at the highest level.

Lampard will get his move back to the club, but for now, he should stay at Derby.
