Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic has dropped a massive hint that he wants to sig a permanent deal to stay with Chelsea.

Despite all the transfer speculation that he wanted to leave Madrid on a permanent deal to get more regular game time, Kovacic looked all set to stay at the Bernabeu as Madrid put a crazy high asking price on his head.

But then Thibaut Courtois forced through a move to Real on transfer deadline day and we had the chance to sign Kovacic on a try-before-they buy kind of deal, which Maurizio Sarri ultimately done as the Croatian arrived late in day.

And now Kovacic has hinted that he would like to stay on at Chelsea on a permanent deal, he was quoted on the Marca website:‘I wanted to be happy and at Chelsea I am.

‘I just wanted to be happy and play matches, feel a responsibility within the team and I’ve found that at Chelsea.

‘This is not the time to talk about anything other than playing and enjoying.

‘I don’t want to think about what will happen and do want to be happy doing what I like, which is to play football every week.’

Does Kovacic deserve a permanent deal?

The young man has shown quality on more than one occasion in a Blues shirt and so far, he has earned his place in the squad at Stamford Bridge. And with the likes of Willian and Cesc Fabregas linked with moves away from the club, it would be foolish not to hand him a permanent deal.

He has the potential to develop into areal world class midfielder, and we would love to see him sign a niece big contract as he would just find himself back on the bench at Real Madrid next season.
