Chelsea in talks to seal £26 million permanent deal for impressive midfielder Kovacic

Written by Jamie.
Chelsea have contacted Real Madrid about a permanent deal for midfielder Mateo Kovacic.
After months of speculation we managed to seal the signature of Kovacic on the final day of the transfer window after Thibaut Courtois forced his way to Madrid in a deal worth around £35 million, which is a bargain as he was one of the best stoppers in Europe at the time.
And since his move here, Kovacic has become a big part of the side this season, showing great ability and creativity, and has got the game time he had hoped after leaving the Bernabeu, as Sarri looks to help get the Blues back into a top four spot.
Now Spanish publication AS has claimed Madrid have decided to sell the Croat in the summer, and are willing to let him leave for just €30m (£26.7m), the fee they originally spent on him to buy him from Inter Milan in 2015.
‘I’m really happy at Chelsea,’ he recently said.
‘The city is amazing, the fans are great, the stadium, everything is nice, so I could imagine myself here.
‘After two years of struggling in Madrid, playing and then not playing, it was difficult. You don’t have the confidence, you don’t try the things you know.
‘This was my decision to go. Chelsea came, I spoke with the coach and the club. It was definitely just Chelsea for me. I wanted to come here and I am happy that it happened.’

The midfielder is only 24-years of age and has plenty of time to develop into a world class midfielder, and if reports are true and Madrid are willing to sell for just £26 million, then he would become an absolute bargain for the club.
