Chelsea have opened talks to sign unhappy Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez in the January transfer window.
The highly-rated midfielder was tipped to become one of the clubs next big things at Barca after showing great potential as a youngster, but he has failed to nail down a regular starting spot with the Spaniards and has become frustrated at his lack of game time.
That has led to speculation that we could make a move in January as aging midfielder Cesc Fabregas has been linked with a move back to the Camp Nou, as it looks like he will not be getting a new contract with the club.
Now Spanish website Marca report that after extensive talks this week, Barcelona have decided to sell Suarez in the upcoming transfer window and we are already holding talks with Suarez’s representatives about a possible move.
It is believed that Barca would accept a bid of €15 million (£13.4m) for the midfielder,
Is there a point in buying Suarez?
At 24-years of age the Spaniard has not developed like many at Barcelona had hoped and that is why they are now keen to cash in, as he seemingly does not have the right stuff to be a star at the Camp Nou. So maybe we should switch our attentions and leave this one to speculation.
We are one of the biggest teams in Europe and although strength in depth is needed, we at least need to buy players that will compete with the regular starters at the club.
