Chelsea on alert as £110 million rated Icardi to leave Inter Milan?

Jamie October 10, 2018

Inter Milan striker and Chelsea transfer target Mauro Icardi is not happy at the Italian giants, as they will not give him the contract he desires.

Icardi was linked with a summer move to us after reports emerged he could leave Inter after reports emerged which suggested the Italians were not ready to open up contract talks.

But as speculation grew on whether or not he could leave, Milan started negotiations over a new contract and it seemed Icardi was all set to stay put and we missed out on a potential summer deal.

However, Italian website Calciomercato has claimed Icardi could now be set to finally leave the Italian giants after demanding €8m (£7.2m) plus bonuses to renew but Inter are only prepared to offer €6.5m (£5.70m) plus bonuses.

It is believed he is frustrated at the lack of development in the negotiations and could consider a move away if a new deal is not struck before the end of the current season.

Would he be welcome here at Stamford Bridge?

The answer is very simple, yes he would be very welcome at Chelsea, especially since Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud have not been performing at the required level to lead the line.

And although Maurizio Sarri is happy with his attack, there will come a day next summer when Real Madrid come calling for Eden Hazard which means the Italian boss will need a striker of Icardi’s quality to score the goals we need to progress.

However, the big problem may be the fact Icardi will cost upwards of £110 million, and that for a player of his age may mean that a move is not officially made by the clubs hierarchy, but if we can manage to get that price tag way down, then he would be a world class signing for the club.
