Chelsea transfer target Mats Hummels’ position at Bayern Munich could be under threat, with a move away potentially on the cards.
The German defender has ben one of the best centre-halves in world football over the seasons and has been on the radar of Chelsea for a number of years, and with the likes of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen not being good enough, Sarri is eyeing up a brand new defender.
And they have been boosted by the rumours Hummels could be sold in the January transfer window with the German International now considering his future with the lack of game time under boss Nico Kovac.
Since Kovac has taken the reins at the Bavarian club, his rotation policy has seen Hummels on the bench and the player is beginning to think he will become the most prominent victim of the change of coach, according to BILD.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are looking to replace Olivier Giroud with Genoa frontman Krzysztof Piatek.
Despite being a firm fans favourite at Stamford Bridge, Giroud has not chipped in enough with goals and only been put in the side to be a target man that Eden Hazard, Willian and Pedro can feed off.
That has led to speculation that he could well leave the club at the end of the season, or as early as January, with Maurizio Sarri lining up a number of alternatives.
And according to Calciomercato, they have lined up a swoop for the very exciting Piatek.
The 23-year-old has attracted interest recently from Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund and Geno are willing to sell if clubs meet their £32 million price tag.
Could Chelsea end up with two new faces in the January transfer window?
The answer to that question is a big yes as we have the funds and backing to make these kind of deals happen. But we suspect that we will have to wait until the summer if we really want some transfer business to happen, as big players very rarely move half way through the season.
